The capability of a sensor to use the information or data it has detected and, through its microprocessor, to actuate a specific outcome in a specific application setting. For example, Hyde Park's "smart" SUPERPROX sensors use a discriminating microprocessor, pushbutton setup program to detect only the designated object within the sensing window while ignoring other foreground, lateral and background objects. Another example is the Hyde Park dual-level sensor that detects the level at which a pump is to be turned on or off and outputs a signal causing the pump to turn either on or off. The same sensor can be configured to sound an alarm at a specific level.
