Detecting metal objects very close to the movement may cause irreparable damage to the sensor.

If sensing distances of just a few millimetres are used, moving metal objects could accidentally impact with the sensor, causing it to break. To avoid machine downtime following this type of incident and, most importantly, to reduce maintenance costs, it is recommended that moving metal objects are detected at a distance which presents no danger to the sensor. Ultrasonic technology has now made it possible to have far greater sensing distances. OsiSense™ XXV ultrasonic sensors allow detection up to 50 mm in distance (2.5 times further than standard products on the market), regardless of the environment, the material or the color.
